How Louis van Gaal can help England win the World Cup

Louis van Gaal wants to start a revolution that might just suit the England team.

The wacky Dutch coach, currently in charge at Bayern Munich, wants to ditch penalty shoot-outs and switch to a battle of the gladiators.

Given England’s miserable record in shoot-outs, that might just suit Rio Ferdinand and the boys.

Asked for his ways to improve football, Van Gaal said: “Penalties are nothing but a lottery. I prefer to see a gladiator game.

“My proposal is for each team to witdraw a player in every five minutes of extra time.

“So after 95 minutes it is 10 v 10, after 100 minutes 9 v 9.

“From 115 minutes onwards it will lead to a 6 v 6 situation!

“This will increase the chance for the strongest team to go through.

“OK, if it is still a draw after all that time, we will have the golden goal.”

I bet Van Gaal would receive support from England shoot-out flops David Batty, Gareth Southgate, Stuart Pearce and Chris Waddle.
