Samuel Eto'o wants to do a David Beckham and return to Serie A on loan.
The Cameroon striker became the highest paid player in the world on £18m a year net when he joined Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala in the August window.
But after only six games for the Dagestan club, Eto'o has contacted Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti to ask to return in January and February during the break in the Russian season.
Just this week player-coach Roberto Carlos has said his club are also interested in signing Nicolas Anelka and Robin Van Persie. Anzhi, backed by billionaire Suleyman Kerimov, have also been continually linked with employing Fabio Capello.
But after paying £25m to sign Eto'o, they are unlikely to allow him to return so quickly to Italy.
Eto'o was back in Milan this week during the international break.
