Tottenham are moving ahead of rivals Arsenal in the race for Blackburn captain Chris Samba – but they will have to pay £12million.
Rovers have lost Phil Jones to Manchester United and hope their valuation of giant centre-half Samba deters offers.
Spurs supremo Daniel Levy wants to do a deal which could involve a player or two in exchange and raising cash by flogging off some unwanted fringe men.
But Levy’s biggest problem may be finding the £60,000 a week Samba will seek if he is to come to London.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger considers Samba to be over-priced at £12m.
