Fabregas "optimistic" as Arsenal wait for new Barca bid

Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas said he was in “optimistic" mood as a switch to Barcelona moved closer.

The European champions have made a £34million move for Fabregas, who said: “I’m calm and optimistic. I’ve begun to get in shape, which is what I have to do.

“If a player is on the market it is because the club does not want him. I have no problems.”
