Teenage hotshot Adryan claims he rejected a move to Manchester United last summer in order to continue his development in Brazil.

The 17 year-old Flamengo forward, whose full name is Adryan Oliveira Tavares, was dubbed 'the new Zico' in his homeland after he bagged five goals in the 2011 FIFA U-17 World Cup.

Manchester United were linked with him last July , but Adryan claims he actually turned the Premier League side down.

"Manchester United actually spoke and showed interest, but it was not something that interested me at the moment," Adryan told the Globo Esporte site.

"We shall see later when it appears the proper place so that I can participate and be important."
