Roberto Mancini fears he could lose Kolo Toure this month after an approach from Anzhi Mackachkala for the defender.
The Russian outfit have made it clear they want to take the Manchester City star on loan with an option to buy in the summer.
Having lost another of their targets, Chelsea defender Alex, to PSG Anzhi want to tie up a deal before the Russian transfer window closes on February 24.
But Mancini is keen to hold on to Toure, having seen his side crash out of the Carling and FA Cups and struggle to keep clean sheets in the League.
City’s 3-0 win over Fulham was only their second in their last seven games in all competitions.
Toure, meanwhile, has reached the semi-finals at the African Cup of Nations without conceding a goal in his four matches so far.
Before his departure, he had been in the City side that kept clean sheets in wins over Liverpool and Arsenal and won five out of six games.
Indeed, since his return from a drugs ban this season, Toure has been on the losing side in just two out of 12 City games in all competitions.
The package on offer includes a lucrative package for Toure in a bid to entice him away from the Premier League.
Sources in Russia also insist Anzhi are offering City a substantial loan fee as part of the negotiations.
