Mancini plots swoop for £20m Sturridge (report)

Manchester City reject Daniel Sturridge could make a sensational return to Eastlands - as Roberto Mancini firms up his summer shopping list.
Chelsea star Sturridge has drifted out of favour at Stamford Bridge since Roberto Di Matteo took over from Andre Villas-Boas.
But Mancini is plotting a summer shake-up at City that will see the arrival of at least three new players – and Sturridge, with a likely £20million price tag, is understood to be high up on the Italian’s wish-list.
The 22-year-old moved to Stamford Bridge under a cloud three years ago after City reportedly refused to match his wage demands.
He enjoyed a period of success under AVB, but has only completed 90 minutes twice in Di Matteo’s 12 games in charge. Di Matteo has also criticised the striker, who made his England debut in November, challenging him to "play for the team".
Mancini on the other hand is very much feeling the love for the rangy hitman. He said: “It was strange because Sturridge was developed in Manchester and someone let him go.
“If Sturridge was here today, he’d be in the first team. I’ve watched him many times and I know him well.”
