AC Milan are hot favourites to sign Carlos Tevez after opening talks over a £25million move for the striker.
Tevez’s advisor Kia Joorabchian jetted into Milan on Thursday morning to meet the Italian giants and discuss ending Tevez’s Manchester City hell.
City insist they will not let Tevez, who is still AWOL in Argentina, leave on loan, but the Rossoneri are prepared to buy him in January.
Joorabchian is understood to have met Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani, and the Serie A side are prepared to offer City £25million for the Argentinian.
They feel this is a fair valuation for a man who has not played since September following his fall-out with Roberto Mancini, even though City priced Tevez at £50m in the summer.
Milan were remaining tight-lipped last night about a possible move.
A club spokesman said: “We cannot possibly comment on that. There is nothing we can say at all.’’
Despite Milan’s reticence in public, sources in Italy claim they are determined to beat their Serie A rivals Inter Milan and Juventus in the race to sign Tevez.
They are keen to boost their strikeforce after losing Antonio Cassano for the rest of the season with a heart problem and feel Tevez is the obvious choice.
Milan are looking beyond his disciplinary problems and note that the South American was the top scorer in the Premier League over the last two season with 43 goals.
Tevez, 27, is believed to be interested in a move to Milan and has spoken before of his admiration for the Rossoneri.
