Roy Hodgson is ready step up his £4million chase for Nedum Onuoha amid fears Jonas Olsson is ready to leave West Brom.
Baggies boss has been trailing Manchester City centre-back Onuoha for several months and is poised to make a bid during the January transfer window.
City are willing to listen to offers for the England Under-21 international, who has only played twice for the club this season - both in the Carling Cup - after spending the 2010-2011 campaign on loan at Sunderland.
Hodgson and club chairman Jeremy Peace are in the process of finalising a firm offer following Olsson’s surprise announcement that he could quit the club at the end of the season .
Olsson has been involved in preliminary talks over extending his deal with Albion, but has told the club he wants to keep his options open.
The Sweden international feels good performances at Euro 2012 could earn him a move to a bigger Premier League side, or to a European club.
