Spurs can't stop Modric leaving for City, admits Harry

Harry Redknapp admits Spurs face another big fight to hold on to Luka Modric this summer – this time from Manchester City.
Blues boss Roberto Mancini revealed this week he is a big fan of the midfielder, 26, coveted by Chelsea last year – and Redknapp believes it will be far harder to see off City’s money.
The Tottenham chief said: “I would think if someone is going to offer him £200,000 a week it could probably turn his head a little bit.”
Spurs want Modric to sign a new deal at White Hart Lane but the player’s camp insist he has no intention of doing so if Redknapp is set to leave to become England manager.
He added: “Only Luka knows what he wants to do. We want to keep him here, we need to.”
And Redknapp wants Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger to face the possibility of Champions League heartbreak if Chelsea win the competition.
The team that finishes fourth will not qualify for next season’s tournament if Roberto Di Matteo’s men lift the trophy against the odds – and that has given Spurs an added incentive to snatch third place back off their bitter rivals.
Redknapp said: “We want to finish third really and let Arsene have that problem.”
Chelsea, leading Benfica 1-0 after the first leg of their quarter-final, face possible showdowns against Barcelona and Real Madrid if they are to win the Champions League.
Redknapp added: “Anyone beating them this year deserves whatever they get. I think those two teams are at another level. It would be an incredible achievement.”
