Redknapp ready to pay £35m for Lille star

Harry Redknapp has confirmed Tottenham are ready to smash their transfer-fee record to land £35million-rated Lille wonderkid Eden Hazard.
The north Londoners will have to double the £16.9m they paid Blackburn for David Bentley four years ago to get their hands on the Belgian playmaker.
But boss Redknapp said: “If you want to be a top-four team you have to do things like this.
“If you want to compete with Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and the two Manchester clubs, you have to buy top players.”
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is hoping to convince Redknapp to snub the England job by recruiting the kind of outstanding talent that will keep the club competitive next season.
Hazard, 21, is the reigning French Player of the Year, having twice lifted the Young Player equivalent of the accolade.
He led Lille to the French title last year and has hit 11 goals so far this season, four more than he got in 2010-2011.
Redknapp says Hazard, who is understood to have a £35m buy-out clause in his contract, is exactly the kind of star he and Levy believe can take Tottenham forward.
He went on: “He’s a talented player. He’s got great ability. He can do special things. A real good footballer.
“The chairman would deal with that. If anyone is talking to Lille it would be the chairman not me.
"He’s a player that I’ve watched an awful lot and he’s a real talent. But only the chairman would know where we are in terms of actually getting the player."
