Spurs target Ganso sparks transfer panic with April Fool's gag

Santos fans feared the worst yesterday when in-demand midfielder Ganso announced he was leaving the club.

The 22 year-old, who has been linked with a number of top European clubs including Spurs, took to Twitter to announce:

"Today I say goodbye to Santos' fans with a broken heart. Thank you for all! Good Sunday, everyone!"

Fans of the Brazilian club on the social media network immediately went into meltdown, assuming that one of their star players was leaving.

Five minutes later, however, Santos put them all out of their misery by Tweeting:

"April Fools' Day! A blessed day to you with a great victory from Santos later today !!!"

It was almost as good as MirrorFootball's own April Fool's joke, in which we revealed Manchester United owners the Glazers' plans to move the club to New York .
