Bobby Zamora's Fulham future is under threat - as Cottagers chief Martin Jol has made a £10million move for Argentina striker Maxi Lopez.
Zamora was outstanding for the club under former boss Roy Hodgson but has been out of favour under Jol, although he did hit the winning goal in Monday’s shock defeat of Arsenal.
After that match, the Fulham boss played down talk of a rift with his England striker, but Italian club Catania have confirmed a bid IS on the table for their 6ft 3in star Lopez.
Sporting director Pietro Lo Monaco said: “I can confirm the strong interest from England for Maxi Lopez, and indeed there is a Fulham offer.
“But we are still evaluating potential developments in Italy,”
If Jol were to sign the 27-year-old, it would cast a big doubt over Zamora’s prospects of regular action as he has already fallen behind Mousa Dembele and Bryan Ruiz in the pecking order.
QPR, Sunderland, Aston Villa and Bolton have all been mooted as potential destinations for the talented ex-Tottenham frontman.
